sorry, ben

when hazel was 3 months old.  she cried.  alot.  somehow we discovered that when one song in particular came on, it made her stop crying immediately & almost look around the room for the music.  as soon as that song was over, she went back to the tears.  this was a song called "amazing" by ben rector & the interesting thing is that as time went on, she continued to LOVE his music.  like, crazily loved his music.  and honestly, this is not my doing, i listen to ALL types of music & from when she could first talk to me conversations would regularly & even daily look like this::
H: "ben recer, momma, ben recer music"
me: "oh hazel, this is a girl named ingrid, you will loooove her"
H: "no, momma, i love ben recer music, that's all"
me: "it's important to try new things, sweetheart, & you are gonna love U2... mommy is not sure that i can listen to it one. more. time."

something like that.  so, it's been an ongoing & quite interesting phenomenon...until the last few weeks.
sorry, ben, but you have been replaced at number 1.  she still asks for ben rector (& recently was quite upset that ben did not include his wife in his video because "they are married & they should be together in the video"), but only after adele.  that's right, she is so into Adele.  she sings one song in particular over & over & once again, i find myself saying things like "hazel, we can only listen to this song one more time & then mommy will pick the next song", which is followed by "pleeeeease let me hear nevermind-neverfind-someone-like-you one more time, pleeeeeeaaseeee".
we watched a youtube video of adele singing hazel's favorite & hazel regularly does her own rendition & it's just too wonderful to not share all the goodness.  now, keep in mind before you push play that she used to just sing it regular until she saw the video of adele & now she tries to sing it exactly like she saw adele sing it.
enjoy the awesomeness.
