i like birks a lot & have for years. they are a great shoe.
but the high fashion thing & birkenstocks combined...this drives me bananas. they were fine when i wore them in '92. just fine. but they were not a fashion statement then. and they are fine now, just fine. i actually like them a lot... but they are not high fashion or trendy.
it drives me absolutely crazy that they are currently a fashion trend. don't hear me wrong, i like your birkenstocks. i actually like the shoe...a lot. throughout the last fifteen years, i have probably owned about 3 pairs.
i like them. but just not as a fashion trend.
the fact that hipsters and fashionistas want to wear them because mary kate olsen threw them on one day, just drives me crazy. because for decades they have been worn like this::
and now, gals are trying to wear them like this::
there's just a disconnect. and my #truthtuesday is that it bugs.
This is so funny because I saw Birks on someone's pinterest this summer and thought, "Awesome! I'm getting out my birkenstocks!" And I did. And Adam made fun of me. But I didn't care because I was so happy to be able to wear them again. :) They're definitely NOT high fashion, but they're oh so comfortable!
