school year

last year anders went to a mom's day out and hazel went to preschool on different days.  this gave me some specific time with each of them in all the changes of lena's first year home.
this year, they are both at the same preschool on the same days.  hazel has always loved it but it's been really fun in the last few weeks to see anders love it too!  matt and i have noticed the 2 of them sorta be all bondy over seeing each other in the hallways, comparing the different ways their individual classes do show & tell and having the same music teacher.  i wanna geek out and video every back seat conversation about school, i can't even handle all the cuteness... but keeping my hands on the wheel is a better option.
they only go 2 mornings a week and they've both done great so far.  hazel is so perplexed as to why she can't go every day yet like many of her friends who just started kindergarten.

i got tickled at all the kids clinging to their parents' legs at drop off and tears in the hallway and we had to sort of make hazel and anders say goodbye to us...they were already too busy with friends and all the cool stuff in their classroom.
so proud of these 2.

matt told them they could have anything they wanted for breakfast for their first day and the consensus was chocolate chip bagels from einsteins.

bagels & first day of school, so much excitement.

breakfast

ready to go.

this pic is blurry, but i love it.  we took anders first & he is in the same class hazel was in last year.  he ran down the hall then stood outside the door for a few minutes...just scoping it from the outside looking in.

see ya later, dad.

green room teachers.

then it was off to hazel's class. she's in a building across a walkway from anders' building.

scoping out the classroom.

older 4s teachers.  hazel has her hand in her pocket & i find this so funny.

in other news...lena starts school tomorrow.  she and i, we haven't been apart very much in the last 20 months.
tomorrow!
big. deep. breaths.
i love ann, but don't always make it over to her blog.  a friend (who knows i'm fighting the hyperventilating) sent me this post.  i've read this 4 times and the truth of it is sinking in and all over me.  so. good.
so. true.
just what i needed.
