i think it's genius. in this world of social media, pretense runs wild. and not always at the fault of the one posting. we who look at a picture or post, we add our own assumptions, don't we?
i thought it would be fun to do some #truthtuesday blog posts.
in lena's first week, i decided to bake cookies for her teachers. so, first thing, this stressed me the heck out. i knew she had 5 teachers that she rotated through, but then there were 2 director ladies we had met with during the application process and i wasn't sure if i needed to send cookies to them, too. then, what about other staff? do they need to receive cookies too?
total. head. case.
and that was only the beginning. because then, i decide to send 7 individually wrapped packages of cookies....and then, i decided to put a note on each one.
this is where, i then took psycho-copter-mom to a whole new level. i in no way exaggerate when i say that i deliberated for 30 minutes (i mean, maybe more) over what to write on the stinkin note attached to the cookies.
in the moment, i knew it was crazy and pointless. but i just couldn't stop thinking of different things i thought the cookies should say. when i asked matt he said "enjoy". then, when i had an idea it was a book, something like "thank you for investing time in our daughter, looking forward to this year and praying that is it a great one" and then putting my cell phone number on the bottom.
after all the deliberation and throwing away 10 cards that look like this::
i came up with this::
and how's this for #truthtuesday, i am still wondering if the "and family" was really necessary?

Oh Ginny! "psycho-copter-mom" might be my new favorite phrase.
ReplyDeleteYou my dear are so precious to me! It blesses me how much you love your family and how you earnestly desire to show love to those that also invest themselves in your family. And cookies....oh how fortunate they are!
