fall photo album

there are moments where you look up and around and realize you are in a very different place than you used to be.  that is what this fall has been like in the mooney house.  some friends recently asked us how long after lena got home did we feel we weren't in transition but in a new normal...  great question.  matt responded with about a year and a half.  that would be this past summer and into fall.  things are the same ol' same ol' beautiful chaos that is having 3 young children, but it all feels in a lot more of a rhythm and that goes a long way in the sanity of a mother:)

and when parents are somewhat rested and feel somewhat sane and there is a semblance of rhythm, you can actually go do fun stuff!  and we have been able to just have fun in all the little things lately.

there's a new park about 10 minutes away that has tons of accessible options and we love it.  we've been heading there on a lot of sunday afternoons lately.

we can all go together to the park and even go on walks!  last year at this time, i don't think i would've even thought to take all 3 to a park by myself.  not to mention, lena wasn't even walking.  what?  so much crazy change in one little year.

new footie pajamas for cold nights.

i've been trying to do some purposeful things with hazel and anders on the mornings that lena is in school and they aren't.  we'll do some memory verses sometimes or work on letters and numbers or just play together.  a few weeks ago, i printed a simple sheet i found on pinterest & we just walked around our neighborhood looking for items on the the sheet.  they are at such a great age for activities like this.  they're not too old or "too cool" and if i act like it's the greatest thing ever, they actually believe me.

pretty hazel, first thing in the morning.

hazel and anders' preschool has talent shows.  hazel's class had theirs last week & oh my daughter.  last year she sang adele and this year she was bound and determined to build a tower with blocks, right there on that talent show stage.  while there wasn't enough time for the full tower, the first floor got completed and she explained to me with great emphasis that a)there was a couch and b)she didn't get to finish.

matt always says that our friends who claim to love yard work, don't have trees.  he's so right.  we have these beautiful old trees that completely fill the yard with leaves and these kids and their friends love to rake and jump and plow through the insane amounts of fallen foliage.

and lena. sweet lena is in school!!  it is just so so great for her.  after a year and a half of this girl not sleeping much at all, we finally made progress in this area of her life a few months ago.  right before she started school.  which is great!  but i wake her up at 6:30 every morning to get ready for school and she is always sleeping so hard.  i never thought i would have a picture of her sleeping!
the school is very specialized and they do lots of parent trainings and meetings to keep us all on the same page.  i went last week and watched some of her school day and it was cool to be a fly on the wall.  we are still learning about it all and she is still getting used to it, but so far it is really great.
